Having Cosmetic Surgery
The most common reason people give when they seek cosmetic plastic surgery is dissatisfaction with their appearance. They think they look older or tired, when in fact they feel rested and energetic.
Twenty-five percent of North Americans would like to improve the appearance of the area around their eyes. Cosmetic eyelid surgery accounts for a large portion of all aesthetic surgical procedures.
Yet some people needlessly shy away from surgery around their eyes, fearing that it could have adverse effects, perhaps even a loss of eyesight. They are unaware that there are surgeons trained and certified in both ophthalmology and plastic surgery who operate on the area around the eyes, at minimal risk.
Cosmetic plastic surgery is no longer sought only by the wealthy. Almost 65 percent of the more than 400,000 annual cosmetic surgeries in North America are performed on people whose family income is less than $50,000 per year.
Over 50% of those undergoing cosmetic surgery are female. The number of men have been slowly increasing over the past few years as the male gender realize a younger, rested, healthier look may give them a competitive edge in the market place. An increasing number of both men and women in their forties, fifties and sixties seek this type of surgery as a way to look younger longer.
